New Trends In Flooring

Recently we have seen a new trend in home flooring for the new construction custom homes we build. This trend is vinyl planking. I know many people will read this and be like vinyl planking I would never put this in to my home hardwood is the only way to go. I was in the same boat as you till we recently have done a few projects with it now my prospective is changing. One of our recent customers for a custom home came to us and said she had built a beautiful home 5 years before but she had put in maple wood floors. She had two large dogs after the five years the hardwood floors needed to be sanded and refinished. One this recent home we put in life proof vinyl planking from home depot they stock a bunch of colors and different planks sizes the planks are two years in and the floors show no signs of wear and tear from the dogs. Another advantage to this flooring is it is waterproof. The flooring can be ran through every room of the house without worry of water damaging it. In one of projects we put over 2,800 sqft of the flooring in including through the bathrooms give the home a beautiful seamless look. Recently we complete a home in kennebunk, Maine and the home was close to the ocean and the water table was very high so we put the home on slab with radiant heat. This is another advantage to the vinyl planking it is stable enough that it can go over radiant floors. Many hardwood flooring are not stable enough to go over the heat they will expand and contract causing buckling and gaps in floors depending on the season. Overall our customers have been very please with the vinyl planking the ease of install and the versatile of the plank makes it a great option
